Dromedaries save desperate diggers in desert!
Camels
were the lifeline before the pipeline on WA’s Eastern Goldfields
so the National Trust has a school holiday program to commemorate
their important role.
‘Through the Eyes of a Camel’ reveals
goldfields history from their point of view and is aimed
at primary-aged students. Camels were as a form of transport
for people and goods, including water, being so well suited
to desert conditions.
Apart from learning “gee whiz” facts about the Golden
Pipeline and camels, participants will “rush” to the goldfields
and stage a camel race with wooden toy camels they have
decorated and which they can take home afterwards.
Ages: 5 – 12 year olds (parents
welcome to stay and participate)
Dates: Wednesdays 15th and 22nd April
2009 Venue: No 1 Pump Station,
Mundaring Weir Bring: Lunch and
a water bottle Time: 10 am – 3.00
